I am extremely passionate about the environment and all the ways we can reduce waste and leave a better planet for future generations. There are so many steps we can take every day to reduce the amount of waste we create, toothbrushes are just one of the many things that are leaving a huge impact on our planet. It is estimated in the United States that around 850 million to 1 billion toothbrushes end up in landfills each year, that's 50 million pounds of waste that is not biodegradable sitting in our landfills forever. Most toothbrushes are made up of plastic and nylon, both of these materials are derived from petroleum, a non-renewable resource. But there are some environmentally friendly toothbrushes out there and they are well worth checking out.
Although I can not comment on all eco-friendly toothbrushes, I have found one brand that I absolutely love. Brush with Bamboo has become by go to toothbrush. They are made with organic wild bamboo handles that decompose in just six months and recyclable bristles. This is also the most comfortable toothbrush I have ever used!
Brush with Bamboo has become my favorite toothbrush brand but there are so many other great eco-friendly toothbrushes out there. If you're interested in reducing the amount of waste you create and don't know where to start toothbrushes are a great stepping stone.
I hope this post will inspire to take positive steps towards living a greener lifestyle and preserving out planet.
I've been thinking about doing more blog posts that will talk about issues I think need to be brought to light and about things I believe in. I'm always open to hearing feed back and opinions or suggestions as well so feel free to leave comments or shoot me an e-mail!
