It was such a pleasure shooting with Cass, I've never met just a vibrantly positive soul. Our plan to shoot in the Garfield Park Conservatory worked out perfectly for on the day we were planning to shoot, Chicago decided it needed to snow (in April?!). We were able to step into what I think is the most beautiful place in Chicago and go on a tropical escape.
How did you start doing yoga?
It all began when my mom gave me a yoga book when I was a child. Then in high school I was on dance company and we used to have Yoga Friday, and I loved it. I missed it in college and enrolled in a campus class. While in Savasana, I thought to myself, this is what I want to do, I want to teach yoga! I went to Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago and started Mysore and joined Daren's Teacher Training. I'm grateful everyday for that community.
What helps you stay inspired?
Music always moves me. In my self-practice I play, explore and create sequences. I attend workshops and classes, I reference books and I can always count on my hammock chair to get my mind movin.
Do you have any advice for people who would like to start doing yoga?
Now is the time. You are not your physical limitations and ailments, you are so much more than that. Yoga is nature's preventative health care, it will support and enhance everything else you love and do. No expectations, enter as you are.
What is one of your favorite quotes?
"Be melting snow, wash yourself of yourself." - Rumi
What is something that most people don't know about you?
Hmmmm. I've been stung by a jellyfish! That was a doozy, lol.
